Steps to Salvation

What must we do to be saved?  The bible tells us we must:

HEAR the word of truth. ( Romans 10:13-17 )
     BELIEVE the truth. ( Hebrews 11:6; John 8:24 )
REPENT from all sins. ( Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38 )
CONFESS name of Christ. ( Matthew 10:32-33; Acts 8:35-39 )
     Be BAPTIZED in His name. ( Mark 16:16; 1Pet 3:21; Col 2:12 )
Live FAITHFULLY unto death.( Romans 6:1-4; Revelation 2:10 )

New International Version

Hear
Romans 10:13-17

for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

BELIEVE
Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

John 8:24

I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,you will indeed die in your sins.

REPENT

Luke 13:3

I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

Acts 2:38

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

CONFESS

Matthew 10:32-33

Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Acts 8:35-39

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.  As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?”  And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Be Baptized

Mark 16:16

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

I Peter 3:21

and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ

Colossians 2:12

having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

Live Faithfully

Romans 6:1-4

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Revelations 2:10

Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.
